I like this song. I like all the different elements. I like llamas.

Dan Selzer Rules

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

My buddy Dan Selzer made some techno. It’s nice stuff, really good guy. Viva la Dan. We used to do a party together when I was a bartender at Plant Bar in the city back before Rapture really took off. Check it out. Here is a link to a really nice article that he wrote about those times.

Fifth Dimension

Friday, June 26th, 2009

The Byrds. What a band. Total explosion of personalities. I think my favorite record is Fifth Dimension. It’s got a nice vibe for the whole record. Once Vito saw Roger McGuinn open up for Tom Petty when we lived in San Fran. I wish I was at that show. Another time Vito saw Radiohead in San Diego on The Bends tour, that’s the other one we didn’t get to share. I remember thinking that Radiohead weren’t that cool at the time because I only went to shows by bands on Gravity Records or whatever. I hadn’t died my hair black yet for the first time but I was working my way up to it.

Fun Fun Fun, Til Daddy takes the T bird away!

T.Rex – Interview

Listening to Electric Warrior tonight. Reminding me of working at a place called Record Heaven in San Diego and just hording records all day. Sitting around piles of records and being the only guy there who had a record player. My favorite at the time was The Slider, which is one of a few records I have more than one copy of for some silly reason. The first copy I had skipped and I memorized all the skips and it was strange to listen to it for the first time with out all the fuzzy dust jumps. At the time I was in a band called Carpet

A. Because it sounded like “Pavement”

I think that is the main reason. Anyhow viva the 90’s

Teenage Fanclub, Again

Friday, June 26th, 2009

I don’t know why bands you love when you are a teenager keep you so interested for so long? I can’t let go of this band. I think it was before I could actually talk to girls effectively and I… I’m not sure. Anyhow, listening to Bandwagoneque today and trying to play along again on my old brown Mosrite Stereo 350 guitar that I just got fixed again. Had the pleasure of meeting Norman Blake once and he even came by our show in Scotland to have a drink and brought some seven inches and a couple of “tour mix cd’s”. Really nice guy.

Thanks Norman!

Black Meteoric Star

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I really like this music. I went by DFA yesterday to check in and hang out. It was really fun as usual. Anyhow, one of the things they gave me was the Black Meteoric Star record, which is really good. It reminds me of why I got into dance music in the first place. Trax Records. There is an interview here where Gavin talks all about it. It also reminds me of early Daft Punk and makes me want to do something really simple again. Kind of like how we did Olio back in the day. Let’s all buy patch synths, I’ll go take a loan out from the bank right now!

Greg Wilson

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I found this video surfing around Youtube today. Greg Wilson is one of my all time favorite dj’s. He has been responsible for some amazing edits and mixes. In this jam packed 3 minute video you see a very young Greg Wilson showing a very young and confused Jools Holland how to mix. He is sporting some wicked 80’s walkmen headphones and playing one of my all time favorite songs, which at the time was a brand new single, David Joeseph-Can’t Hide You’re Love. Enjoy. Vito.

End of the Line

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I really wanna go see this movie about OUR worlds oceans, it looks cool. My Mom’s Dad (Grandpa Jack) had a fish and chips shop in Bristol, and my fathers Dad (Grandpa Al) took me fishing in the ocean since I was a pup. I love aquariums and grew up in Hawaii (Oahu) til I was seven looking at all the colorful sea life almost every day before moving to San Diego (La Mesa). I take my kid to the New York Aquarium when ever I can. I signed this pledge.

Peace and Love,

Luke

Watch Me Jumpstart

I love this movie. Guided by Voices are the coolest. Pitchfork does a nice job of letting me watch music movies for free. I used to have to pay twenty thirty bucks, now I just wait. Thanks guys

Here is a picture from our dj gig in SF at Mighty. The sound was great, the crowd was great and we had a good time. What more could you ask for.
