NY Times Videos

Friday, June 12th, 2009

I really like some of the New York times videos. Stuff I would never otherwise think about. This video is really interesting to me. When I was a kid my dad used to get the New York Times delivered in San Diego and it would come in the middle of the night in a blue bag, slamming into our from door, as you could hear a car race off. The first couple nights we moved in to a new house the neighbors would come over to see if we were ok.

Spa in my hotel room, Denver

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Ok, so I know that this is really unmanly, but I’m totally loving the spa stuff in my room right now. They have this Aveda rosemary mint body gel and shampoo, that is really freakin awesome. Just lounging around in a robe, blogging about nothing. Eating some nuts and dried fruit for breakfast, just talked to Vito on the phone. Life is good

Mr Postman

Friday, June 12th, 2009

In Denver Dancing to Mr Postman remix by DJ Technics in a beautiful church. Watched a little basketball finals, although having a hard time getting excited about it at all. It hasn’t been the same since I watched the Lakers, Celtics with my dad when Magic was young and Michael Cooper had his socks pulled up super high. Tomorrow we are going to DJ San Francisco, then going to the A’s, Giants game with old friends. Whoopie!

JAD is going to ROCK YOU!!! Ancients of MU MU

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Listening to Bob Marley JAD recordings again this morning. I love this shit so much!!! It is like a big hug from every direction, there is no running away. Bob is going to love you and you can’t let go. I used to listen to this when a friend of mine made a copy of it for me when I was a bartender. No one would come in for hours in the begining of the night and there I was in a dark bar, all by my lonesome, rocking to the rock. I also used to listen to Ziggy Stardust on repeat, and Screamadelica by Primal Scream. I once met Bobby Gilespie at the NME awards and told him how much I loved that record. I almost didn’t reocognize him with short hair.

David Byrne

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Gabe and I went to see David Byrne at the bandshell in Prospect Park this week. It was a free concert and there was a crazy amount of people but we lucked out and ran into some friends and got a pretty good spot. I went without having any expectations but I gotta say I was pretty blown away. One of the better shows I’ve seen in a while. The band was excellent. I really like the drummer, Graham Hawthorne. The played a lot of Talking Heads songs and some of my favorite from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. At the end of the show they played 3 encores and Steve Scales came out and played some songs with them. Awesome. V

Ok friends, this post is to illustrate how nerdy I get about baseball and San Diego where I grew up. This kid is so awesome, i’ve been geeking out watching youtube videos of him and generally being proud of San Diego and Tony Gwynn. I tell a joke sometimes that goes like this…
There are only two rules in San Diego, the first one is, DON’T SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT TONY GWYNN, and the second one doesn’t matter. Viva la baseball

South America

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Hey Friends,

Just made a nice little DJ trip with my pal Vito to South America for Vice magazine launch. Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires. It totally ruled. I ate some crucified goat and bought some leather shoes. Vito played Ole and everyone screamed. Stayed awake at every time of day imaginable and hung out with the coolest metal drummer of all time Igor from Sepultura and his awesome wife Laima and family. We went over to their house and they got toys for big people and little people. How can you beat this? They have a record label called Mix Hell. Got some clothes from Surface to Air and bought a nativity scene carved into a piece of wood that closes back into a piece of wood in front of a church in Buenos Aires. All cool stuff.

Love

Luke
