Friday Night Lights

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

All right so I discovered this new show. Not so new for people who watch TV, but new for me. I watched the first two seasons in about three days or a week or something. This is how I prepared to play some more shows, the first shows we played in a while, and I loved it. The first season is better than the second, but oh what a show. Presses all the right buttons for me. Taught be about my marriage with my wife. Made me feel totally amped in a sports way to get up and do my thing again. The people we played for this weekend, made me feel so loved. It is so nice to be able to make people happy. I know that not everyone loves my voice or my band, but the people who do really made that known and it and I am completely humbled.

Thanks for making this guys year,

Love

Playing shows and Iggy Pop

Monday, September 14th, 2009

So we played a few shows over the weekend. We hadn’t played shows for a long time and it felt GREAT! We really wanna thank everyone that came out. Here is a clip of House of Jealous Lovers at the Prada Store from last Thursday.

On our way down to Jersey and Baltimore we had a lot of great music to listen to. One of the albums was The Idiot by Iggy Pop. I hadn’t listened to this album for quite a while and I forgot how amazing it is. It was his first solo album and was produced by David Bowie, along with his second solo album, Lust for Life. It got us all talking in the van about what a cool motherfucker Iggy Pop is and what an amazing career he’s had (actually that part was mainly me ranting in the van and everyone else kinda listening) We were talking about some of the amazing bands that he played with and videos of different performances over the years. Harris who is playing bass with us mentioned a video I’d never seen that was Iggy playing on the Dinah Shore Show in 1977 (which was the roughly the equivalent of todays Martha Stewart Show). It features David Bowie and one of my all time favorite rhythm sections, the Sales Brothers. Below is the video, enjoy!

Helmet and a few good Movies

Hello Again Pals,

Just letting you into my world again a little. It’s been fun. Letting myself outta the box a little. Here is an album that changed my life. Being an angry young man. I was talking to a woman yesterday and she told me that “mental illness made her really mad.” My mom suffered many long years tortured by her own mental illness before she died. I love her very much. When I was a teenager this album helped me express a lot of anger I was feeling. I guess most kids got rage. You wanna girlfriend you can’t figure it out. You want some money and a car, lol, I still don’t have a car. Anyway living in New York city is sweet. Rage, power. I was in a Helmet rip off band called Torque back in the day, it was fun, the drummer was awesome. Viva la Grunge. Nirvana, disolution. I saw a cool movie about these years called Empire Records yesterday, it brought it all back. Being thirty four is awesome, let no one tell you different. Another good movie about growing up I saw today is This Is England, another music related film, I’m a sucker for that stuff.

Angrily yours, Ok, well… Previously pissed
